Project overview

A dynamic new website for an exciting new brand

The Raby Estate comprises landholdings and trading operations in Co Durham and Shropshire that are owned by Lord Barnard. They seek to develop the Castle and grounds so that it becomes one of the foremost visitor attractions in the North. High Force in Upper Teesdale is also a major landmark attraction operated by the Estate.

Raby required a supplier to help them realize their new brand, inspire their visitors with an eye-catching site across all devices and drive engagement and outcomes.

The challenge

Tying together unique and distinctly different offerings

As well as prominent tourist attractions; agriculture, conservation and property are important areas for Raby. The wider estate and its activities, the castle and High Force all needed to stand-alone, yet connect and compliment each other. The posed many challenges with a potentially complex site structure and navigation system.

The new website also needed to hit clear and obvious targets such as attracting more visitors, give customers all the information they need, reach a wider audience, raise the estates’ profile and build credibility.

What we did

Utilising the latest trends in destination marketing

We designed and built a website that showcases the spectacular attractions in all their glory. Putting imagery and video up front quickly engages the user, while subtle interactive elements such as footsteps encourage them to explore further.

Each attraction has it’s own ‘sub-site’ so that it can stand alone and have full freedom when it comes to pages, content and menus. At the same time, each of these sub-sites are linked by one central admin system, making software and style updates simple.
